Perhaps you’ve read the heroic stories of those who’ve gone before, or you’ve seen the desperate need that surrounds every part of this vast world.
Either way you’ve made up your mind that you will live life radically, and you ache to do all of the great and grand things.
Well the truth of it is, friend, there is a need and the need is great, but the road you must take may not be the same course that you had mapped out for yourself.
There are many with the desire, and many with the ache, but few that understand the cost and will give all that it takes.
For to be a world changer is the harder way. The way of greater treasure and most certainly the better way, but there is no mistaking that it is also at times a pain-filled way.
So, if your heart truly longs to be among those who’s life leaves a changing impact, then friend this is the way that you will have to take.
You’ll have to give yourself up to the God who created this world. For there is no one better equipped to guide you to the greatest area of need. His view is overall, while yours is capable of seeing only the present. He sees the inner workings of your heart and knows best where it is meant to be.
His way may very well lead you across the seas to foreign lands, but don’t be surprised if a good amount of your time is spent in places that are more than a little familiar to you with lives that are the very closest to you.
Once you’ve surrendered that’s really just the start, because the rest of your life must be one of constant trust.
If you’ve read the stories of those who’ve gone before you, then you know that the theme that carried them through is simply summed up with only two little words — trust and obey.
Because friend, the world is only changed when a simple little soul gives itself up to a Miracle-working God. And when this frail human heart begins to listen to the heartbeat of God and act upon His words, a miraculous thing begins to take place - that one frail human heart becomes an unstoppable force in this world.
So learn to listen, learn to trust what He says, and then go and do it, knowing He will always supply for it.
If you haven’t already caught on, let me tell you — your way will be marked by giving. You’ll keep giving yourself over to God and then letting Him give out the treasure of His love and joy that He has placed within you.
There are days when you’ll wonder if there’s anything left of you to give, but never fear — if you heart stays within His hands then you’ll be filled with an endless supply, and an endless supply will never run out.
There will be seasons along your path when you are tempted to doubt as to whether it’s worth it. You may face a seemingly endless stretch of time when you wonder if God has forgotten — if He will ever use you at all.
But friend, this is when courage is needed and you must summon all of the strength that your God has given to you — for in reality these questions and doubts are only your enemies greatest attack, and they don’t hold one bit of truth. So treat them as something that must be destroyed and you’ll eventually see that the God that you follow will never waste a life that He paid such a high price to save.
Your way will most likely never lead you to any grand stage. There may not be a book that’s written about the story of your sacrifice, but dear friend — the reward that waits for the true world-changers at the end is of a much greater worth than any applause this world tries to give.
For if one heart is gained for heaven, or a small handful of souls redeemed through the work that Christ did in you then friend, your way was more than worth the battle that you have fought.
Just ask the life that gained eternity, because of the way that God was able to use you.
