Have We Forgotten

Right now in America, there are a million and one reasons to fear, there are a million and one reasons to be discouraged and there are a million and one reasons to worry.

This is what every person has to face at the start of each day. That is, unless of course, you are a child of God. And yet, are we any different?

When God looks down at His children, does He see them resting in the peace He freely offers? Does He see them trusting in His precious Words of life? Does He see them walking in confidence of the promises He's spoken? Or do we look the same? Are we also among those holding on to all of our worries and fears of what might come?

Brothers and sisters, have we forgotten the God whom we serve?

Have we forgotten how, though the whole earth was destroyed in a global flood, God still remembered the righteous and they were kept safe in the midst of a tragedy more devastating than we could even fathom?

Have we forgotten how our God fought for the Israelites when the Egyptian armies came against them and all seemed lost? How, in the midst of danger, He said to them, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today." Then later it is written that the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea?

Have we forgotten that, as plague after plague descended upon the Egyptian people, destroying all of their possessions and taking their very lives,  still the Israelites were miraculously untouched?

Have we forgotten, that our God is the one who says, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior"?
(Isaiah 43:1-3)

Have we forgotten that the often quoted verse, "This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it", was written after the words "You pushed me violently, that I might fall, But the Lord helped me"?
(Psalm 118)

Have we forgotten that during the times of the early church, incredible revival broke out everywhere under rulers who were far more evil then we could ever imagine?

Have we forgotten that, as Paul was fruitful in ministry and writing some of our most quoted words, he was bound up in prison by those evil men who sought to end his life?

Have we forgotten that though there was incredible persecution going on in Pauls' life, he never lacked the grace to accomplish what God had set forth for Him to accomplish. "And having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe, and when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting the to continue in the faith and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God"?
(Acts 14:19-22)

Friends, the Christian life wasn't made to be easy. Things will likely be getting hard for us in the coming years. We will always have trials to face and the intensity might increase quickly, but we must remember that the God who has saved us from the pit of destruction is able to keep us until our final day. Our lives are in His hands and He is able to keep them until His purpose is accomplished. We must remember the lives of those before us, and rest in the faithfulness of our God.

May we not be among those who tremble and quake with fear when our rulers forsake God and our land becomes hostile to Christ.
May we not grow weak along with the world when difficulties arise and evil increases.
May we not forget every promise given to us, by the One who hung the stars in the sky and numbers the grains of sand, when others seek our destruction.

Now is the time to speak truth to your soul. Now is the time to stand for the gospel. Now is the time to fight for the truth like you've never fought for it before.

Why do we act as though we're citizens of this world when we've been give the Kingdom of Heaven? Why do we pretend that this is our final home when a place is prepared for us in another realm?

I, for one have decided that I want none of this fear and none of these lies. I choose to believe the God of the Universe is greater than any human power or plan. I pray for these people and I intercede for their salvation, but I will not bow to any of their idols and I will not falter in my declaring of the gospel. I beg you to join me, and look forward to the day of seeing the weak made strong in the face of grave darkness, as the gospel continues to go forth and the truth be spoken no matter the cost.

"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, Your God reigns!"
Isaiah 52:7

Will you be among the one's proclaiming to the world that our God reigns? Or will you be among the one's who tremble with fear? Now is the time to make your decision.
