A Life Overflowing

I often write about the different seasons we go through in life. Time's of waiting, times of not knowing, times of excitement, and always times of growing.

Right now, I find myself in a time of intense busyness. The calendar is full and the list of tasks to accomplish seems to be at it's max. There are days when I'm just not sure how I'll get it all done.

Busyness can be a hard season to go through and yet it can also be an exciting time. Over all it will have one of two effects on you. The first is that it will distract. It will distract you from the things that really count, it will take your focus off of the things that matter in life and fill your life with pointless goals. This is nowhere near the life we both want and should be living.

However, the second effect it may have on you is quite the opposite. It will bring you closer than ever before to your Jesus, and that is because you will quickly realize that without Him, accomplishing all that needs to be done is impossible. This is what we must chose. To throw ourselves on Jesus each day admitting our weakness and seeing our great read for His strength. He knows what we need to accomplish and He knows far better than we ever could the best way to accomplish it.

So, although my life is full at the moment, it is more beautiful than I could have imagined. Not because of the absence of difficulty but because I have a Jesus that is with me all the way. Though there are times I miss the quiet seasons in life, I know this is right where God wants me to be, and because of that there's no place better for me. There are times when I am completely filled with awe at that adventures God is giving me and the work He's allowing me to be a part of! His ways are so far beyond what we could imagine.

I still have to make the choice each day to see things from His perspective, and though I've failed many, many times, God's grace is sufficient and He gives me countless second chances to follow His way instead of my own.

If you find yourself in a season of intense busyness at the moment I'd like to encourage you with three things that God has been teaching me in my own season...

1. Remain in Him. It's easy to think that with all you need to get done, there just isn't time for quiet times with Him. You may think you can't afford to sit that long but friends, the truth is, you can't afford not to. This is where you are poured into by Jesus, this is where He gives the strength you need. Don't skip it.

2. Don't think for one moment that you are the only one that's busy. When we have a million things to get done it's so, so easy for us to get wrapped up in our own lives, our own struggles. Don't shut out the people around you. Everyone has a battle they are facing or challenges in their day. We all need encouragement and that must always be at the top of our list. Take time to minister to the people in your life. Take time to show them you care.

3. Pause awhile. It seems impossible but at times the best thing you can do is simply hit pause. Power down the electronics and just simply spend time with your family and friends. People are the most important and nothing is worth throwing out the relationships in your life. We all need times of refreshment and strengthening and sometimes that only comes through rest. Make memories and invest in the lives around you.

Through every season, God's grace is sufficient, so if you are about to head into a week full of challenges simply come to Him and lay your struggles at His feet and then watch as He fills you with His strength and gives you joy in the midst of crazy. He's pretty incredible at that!
